THUG2 Levels

The World Destruction Tour stops by. All fifteen levels of Tony Hawk's Underground 2, from Boston to the Airport, now play in THUG: free skate, LAN, and online, with everyone. Their jumpers, speeders and the Barcelona catapult work too. Bring them over from your own THUG2 (PC): a few files per level, copied into the game's Data/CustomLevels folder.

They come after THUG's own levels, in THUG2's order. A level you haven't copied over stays greyed out, like The Triangle here. Story mode stays THUG's.

Bring your own THUG2

We don't hand out THUG2's levels: they come from the copy you own, so they're the real thing, byte for byte. That's also what lets them go online.

Want them all? Copy THUG2's whole pre folder, and the fifteen folders above from its levels folder. Extra files the game doesn't need (the park editor, THUG2's menus) are simply ignored.

Where the files go

  1. Find THUG2's Data folder

    In your Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (PC) install, usually Game/Data. Everything below comes from there.

  2. Open THUG's CustomLevels

    In your THUG game folder: Data/CustomLevels. The patch already made it and left a README inside.

  3. Copy the four pre files

    Into CustomLevels/pre. For Australia: AU_scripts.prx, AUscn.prx, AUcol.prx and AUped.prx.

  4. Copy its levels folder

    The whole levels/AU folder, into CustomLevels/levels. Skip it and you can still skate the level alone, but not online.

  5. Loading screen, if you like

    images/loadscrn_australia.img.xbx into CustomLevels/images. Without it you get THUG's generic one.

  6. Start the game, drop in

    Free Skate › Play Level, or host a game online with the level picked. Nothing to switch on.

Paths are examples. Capitals don't matter to the game: AUSCN.PRX and AUscn.prx both work.

Online and LAN

Host on a THUG2 level and it shows up in the server list like any other. Everyone in the game needs that level, so the game checks each one: the four pre files and the net files in levels/ have to be THUG2 PC's originals. Modded or missing? The level stays greyed out in the host's list, and joining a game on it politely refuses.

Scores, combos and 30 second graffiti games on THUG2 levels make the online stats too, with their own tables. They don't move your rating: that stays THUG's twelve.

Not working?

The level is greyed out in Play Level

The game can't find its four pre files. Check they're in Data/CustomLevels/pre inside the game folder (not straight in CustomLevels, not in THUG's own Data/pre), and that the names weren't changed. Then quit the game completely and start it again: it looks for levels when it starts.

I can skate it alone, but not online

Online needs the level's folder from THUG2's levels (levels/AU for Australia) in CustomLevels/levels, and every file has to be THUG2 PC's original: no patched or converted copies. Copy them again straight from your THUG2 install.

“You don't have this THUG2 level”

The host picked a level your game doesn't have, or has with different files. Copy that level over (all of it, levels/ folder included) and join again. If the host switches to it mid-game, your game tells you and leaves that game.

No THUG2 peds, goals or cutscenes?

Right: the levels come without THUG2's pedestrians, goals and story. They're there to skate, free or online. The level's own toys, like the jumpers, the speeders and the Barcelona catapult, are in.

Can you just send me the files?

No. They're THUG2's, and THUG2 belongs to its owners: the port only plays the copy you own. Second-hand PC copies of THUG2 still turn up, and the box looks great next to THUG's.
